About This Project
Van Nuys Awning designed, fabricated, and installed a custom single-plane sloped canopy measuring at 27' wide by 23' 6" projection, creating a durable and functional outdoor covered space for this outside work area. The canopy features premium black Sunbrella® awning fabric (#6008) stretched over a custom-built Flo-Coat corrosion-resistant steel frame with reinforced steel trusses, providing exceptional strength, weather resistance, and long-term performance. The entire steel structure was finished with a sleek black coating to complement the building's exterior.
The canopy was securely attached to the existing building and supported by a structural steel post system, including a heavy-duty front corner post and rear support posts anchored to the existing concrete slab. Designed with a minimum 9' front clearance, the installation provides ample overhead space while maintaining a clean, modern appearance.
To improve both privacy and aesthetics, we are also in the process of manufacturing a fixed fill in panel along approximately 20' of the rear of the canopy, effectively screening an existing chain-link fence.
The canopy was also engineered with integrated wind management features, including rafter pockets and strategically placed weeper grommets to promote proper airflow and drainage. The finished project delivers a stylish, low-maintenance commercial canopy that enhances the property's functionality, comfort, and curb appeal.
